Use Google alerts to keep up to date with additions to the Royal Navy Research Archive; receive an e-mail notifying you of the new content from Google Alerts.

Setting it up is simple, go to http://www.google.com/alerts and enter 'Royal Navy Research Archive' into the search terms field, then check the e-mail address in the ‘deliver’ field. You can test your settings by clicking on the ‘preview results’ link below the search filed. If the preview only returns references to the Royal Navy Research Archive web site, its message board or forum you have correctly configured Google Alerts.

You will see that you can change the type of content searched, the frequency of notification, and volume of the alerts reported, if you wish, but the default values seem to work fine. Click on ‘create alert’ to complete the set up.

You should now receive e-mails alerting you to new content on the site without the need for visiting the home page to manually check. If you have an interest in a particular ship, establishment or even a person, you can try creating another Google Alert for that vessel i.e. 'HMS Patroller' or 'Captain A.N.C. BINGLEY'

The service also alerts you to other web sites where instances of 'Royal Navy Research Archive' appear.
