Tsaxby60:
Can anyone help,I have a photo of my great uncle A.B W.G Smith on board Hmhs Berbice . The photo is captioned rest cure 1918. But I cannot find any record of such a ship. Any help would be appreciated

PhiloNauticus:

BERBICE was not a ship of the Royal Navy; she was a Royal Mail passenger ship built in 1909.  In 1915 she was taken over by the Admiralty for use as a hospital ship and was manned by the Royal Fleet Auxiliary; HMHS = His majesties hospital ship
