Hello Barry,

You can request a summary of someone's service record from the Ministry of Defence.

If you Click Here (http://www.royalnavyresearcharchive.org.uk/Records_page.htm) you will be taken to the requesting service records page of our web site: You need the instructions and  information in section 3.  There is a fee of £30, details are on the downloadable forms that you will need to print out and submit to the address on the web page.

Please note you will not receive a full account of someone's service record - only a summary based on Pay & Victualling records - the original certificate of service is given to the person on their discharge, there is no duplicate.

Good luck
