Title: Dunkirk and hospital records
Post by: daisymundy on 16 July 2017 09:00:26 pm
HI all,

I'm trying to find out what happened to my grandfather - his naval records show he was at Dunkirk and that he was invalided out of the service shortly after being hospitalised, but I can't find any way of tracking his hospital records, so I don't know why he was hospitalised.  All his record says is, "After approximately 8 weeks in the Royal Navy sick quarters and 3 weeks in the Royal Navy Auxiliary Hospital due to injuries received at Dunkirk your Father (grandad) was invalided from the service."

It doesn't make sense because he was on HMS Europa: 13 Dec 1941 to 10 April 1942 and Dunkirk wasn't until June.  Any ideas anyone??

Thanks

Dunkirk was from 26 May to 4 June 1940. so your grandfather may have recovered and reenlisted in 1941.
