Eleven
months aboard HMS INDOMITABLE combining the
diary of Able Seaman Gerald A. Hancock and the photographs of
Petty Officer Walter E Gelling this records the eleven months at
sea of HMS INDOMITABLE, from Liverpool in September 1941
to Gibraltar in August 1942.

Royal Naval Hospital Chatham X-Ray
Department Staff 1943 in which Dr Ken Hines
recalls how his parents met while working in the X-Ray
department, and how his mother went on to do work for some of
the most senior members of the naval medical staff.

Leading Coder
(S) Dennis Mills in which Dennis recalls his life in
the royal navy as a national service entrant 1952-54, He trained
as a Coder (Special) and served at H.M.S. Royal Albert in
Germany before his demob and then ten years in the reserves.

The revised
MONAB
Story web site went live on April 8th. The site has a
slightly different look b using the same templates with a few
'tweaks'. The main reason behind the revision was the
comparability with higher resolution monitors, the templates are
now dynamic and will stretch to fit the screen without
distorting the content. The build resolution is 1024x768 and it
has been tested at 1280x800.

Quiz page - a mix of genuinely unidentified photos
and others thrown in as a challenge for fun.

account of the naval career of
Paymaster
Lieutenant Commander Edward N. Hopkns RN (1878 to 1947)
in the People section.

In ‘'Trapped Above the Clouds by Coincidence'’ Peter recalls how
a chain of coincidences led led him to the war in the Pacific
and eventually, to an encounter in a bar in London after the
war.

WRNS Torpedoman Barbara Sugden
When she enlisted in the WRNS Barbara had no expectation of what
role she would play in the war effort; imagine her surprise when
she was allocated to a branch newly opened to women. She was to
train as a Torpedoman and soon found herself working on depth
charges and gyro compasses, sometimes even at sea.

Added the first content for World War ! - the
memoirs of Able Seaman James Robert John Hart, a member of the
London Division of the Royal Navy Reserve who served in the
Royal Naval Division fighting as an infantryman in Gallipoli and
France.

an article recalling HMS Triumph and the 13th Carrier Air Group,

Added the reminiscences of Angus Kidd,
entitled
"I Spy"
- Angus recalls his time as a
national serviceman in the Royal Navy, his
selection and training for specialisation in
interception of Russian communications during the Cold War
era.

Added an online forum for visitors to make
more advanced posts onto message boards dedicated to particular
aspects of the Royal Navy. Users must create a username and
password to access the forum but once enrolled they can easily
add photographs and web links to their posts.

Added a short reminiscence piece about
the experiences of a
wartime evacuee and his brother, sent to the US on
the Cunard liner Scythia in 1940 and returned home on HMS Thane
in 1944.

A brief account of an
accident in 1943 which claimed the lives of 8 WRNS ratings and
how one is still remembered today.

Colour scheme modified for better
readability: removed mid-Blue headings, lines and bullets,
these were changed to white.

Guest book modified to include anti-spamming
technologies - while these may make the process of posting a comment
on the Guest book a little more complicated the prevention of
offensive or annoying junk posts making their way into the pages is
in everyone's interest.

Added the reminiscences of two WRNS Torpedomen,
both of whom trained at HMS Vernon (R) and served at HMS
Caroline.
