Correct Service Number?

I have just been given a copy of my Granddad's service records. His Port Division No is KX156467. Unfortunately he passed away well before I was born. I've asked my Dad if he knew much about Granddad's time in the Royal Navy but apparently it wasn't a much spoken subject which is understandable. With the records being a copy it is hard to read the names of the ships he worked on but it seems very fascinating. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction as this has become something of real interest.
