Hi,

I've attached a photo of my Grandfather George Douglas Blake(MX/766584) which i'm sure is on parade at HMS Ganges(Shotley) sometime during 1935 and 1936.

I would love to know how i can find out which class/Mess he was in if anyone could help me.

For the moment i was wondering if anyone would know why some off the serviceman only have a a small circle lanyard at the lower center of the chest and like my grandfather marked with the X why he has two lanyard starting from the shoulders and looping around the chest ending at the lower center of the chest. I'm curious to know if it means anything?

Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated as i'm a novice to naval research and keen to learn.
