Title: HMS Eastbourne
Post by: Phyly on 07 November 2022 02:20:46 pm
Hello,
I am researching the two HMS Eastbourne naval ships.
J.127 1940-1948     F73 1955-1984
I do not know where to get more information and I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
What I would like is a list of all the Commanders/Captains of these ships and is it possible to see the log books from the ships.
Thank you.

Stephen

Ships Logs are held by and can be viewed at the National Archives at Kew – although they often say little apart from the ships position etc

Details of the minesweepers war service can be found here –

And her commanding officers are here –

Wikipedia provides an outline service history of the frigate – a check on contemporary Navy Lists will provide her CO’s

Thanks for the info. I have been researching now for some months and have quite a lot of information. Visited all the online sites.
Re ships log, I was hoping that they were held in Portsmouth as that would be easier for me to visit. The details on the uboat.net site are not complete and a few errors.
I have quite a few copies of the Navy Lists but as far as I can see you need the captain's name first to check what vessels he commanded. I might be reading the list wrong.
Thanks again for all information, gratefully received.
