Title: Identifying a military history record for a Land Rover series 2a
Post by: grahampretty on 27 November 2020 10:55:39 pm
Hello.
I have recently purchased a Landrover series 2a built in 1969, which i am looking to restore to its original specification and colour.  I know from the heritage certificate that is was sold to the MOD from new . How can i find the military records for this vehicle please?
If i cant find the history, it would be great to see a photo of a similar vehicle so can get an idea of how it would look . I can see a dark blue paint under the current landrover marine blue which its painted in now and it would be great to restore to near military spec.

Vehicle make. Landrover series 2a 109 inch petrol basic.
The vehicle number is 53 RN 34
Chassis number is 25116470G.

Many thanks Graham

I have never seen an asnwer, but have found some information in the book 'British Military Landrovers; Leaf-sprung Land Rovers in Military Service' by James Taylor & Geoff Fletcher. The ISBN number is 978-1906-133-658.

Page 80 about the Series IIa mark 9 (109") states that no official records exist for the Royal Navy. For RAF and Amry these records are available, so the table on that pages only shows some fragmented information, without mentioning the registration number and chassis number you mention.
