Hello All,
I'm doing research into a man who had sticky fingers, by the name of Edward J. Phares. He was an American soldier with the 147th Field Artillery in World War I.
The rumor is that he somehow stole a British Ensign off the ship's mast during transit, likely the HMS Corfield or Coufield, though I can't be sure if that's accurate at this point in time. Has anyone ever heard of this, or something similar to this, happening? It's said that he got away with the flag tucked under his uniform.
