Hoping people might be able to enlighten me on a little more detail.
I have worked out most of the postings on my Grandfathers Naval record (except for a few ships)

Questions....
1.  Let me know if anybody can decipher Rows 10 and 16?
2.  Most of these appear to be Shore bases.  Would that mean he was land based or was attached to ships and these were the "administrative base connected to the ship?  My question around this, is that for some reason we thought he was at sea a lot more?
3.  Lanka....I know that this was based in former Ceylon. Interested to understand what people know around this place as he never mentioned it...only that he was locked up in Bombay for insubordination and caught malaria?


I'd love to understand any further insight into what people would know or recommend to investigate further?

Line 10 - sorry the picture is too indistinct
Line 16 - Mayina - transit camp at Colombo

Shore bases are shown because they were the 'parent' establishment - responsible for pay and paperwork for smaller ships.   Any names in brackets will be the actual ship served on – so for example he has Ferret [the base at Londonderry] and then Lanka [ Colombo – Trincomalee] which were the parents, and Dart in brackets – Dart was the frigate he was actually serving on

You do realise you just provided me with so much info that I was missing just in your response!  I really appreciate that! 

Mayina and Dart are two words I couldn't quite work out!
