I knew her from the late 1950s until her death in Cheltenham where she moved to be near my mother. She lived for many years on Portland and I have just visited her homes. Do you have information about her naval career?

]]> Fri, 12 Sep 2025 16:24:45 +0100 item_810 Christopher McBrien My father, Ronald Charles McBrien was an instructor at Roedean when it was the Naval School for Mines and Underwater Weapons.

He was involved in the fitting of the Anti Mine Belt to the RMA Aquitania prior to her November 1945 voyage to Woolloomooloo, Sydney.

In May 1945 he was at Loch Striven, Scotland in connection with Admiralty Trials. I assume this to be connected with the Anti Mine Belt.

He was also billeted at St. Dunstans despite living close by in Worcester Villas, Hove.

I am trying to find out about Rhoda M Sprague (1906-1994) who joined the WRNS in 1941 (rather on the older side, at age 35) and was at Vernon. She rose to PO by the time she was demobbed in 1945.
