Abbreviation on Service Record Mystery

Hi

I'm trying to find out what the following means on my Great Grandfathers Service Record.

K. C. (No. 15214) Issued 7/12/21

My GG joined in 1904 and was Invalided out in 1920. He was an Officers Steward.
